Access to data in the versiondog system is only possible with a valid combination of password and email address.

The protection of your personal information when using versiondog is very important to us. Personal information is information about the personal or material circumstances of a specified or specifiable natural person. This includes, amongst others, the name, address, phone number and date of birth, but also any other personal information that refers to a specifiable person.

Since personal information enjoys special legal protection, we only collect personal information to the extent that it is required for the provision of versiondog and our services. In the following paragraphs we describe which personal information we collect during the use of versiondog and how such information is used.

Our privacy policy complies with all statutory regulations, in particular with the German Data Protection Act (GDPA), the German Telemedia Act (TMA) and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We will only collect, process and store your personal information to the extent that this is necessary for the working provision of this app and our content and services as well as to process enquiries and, if applicable, to process orders and fulfill contracts. This, however, is only done to the extent that there is a legitimate interest in the sense of Section 6 Subsection 1 Sentence 1 lit. f GDPR or any other permission in place. Only if you have given separate consent, your personal information will also be used for additional purposes, determined in detail in the consent, e.g. for sending marketing information in the form of a newsletter.

3. Provision of the app and creation of logfiles

Any time versiondog is used, our system collects automated data and information of the computer system of the retrieving end device. The following data is collected in the process:

  • Scope of data processing

    (1) Information about the app and the used version
    (2) The operating system of the retrieving device
    (3) The IP address of the retrieving device
    (4) Date and time of access
    (5) Resources (images, files, additional website content) that were retrieved in versiondog.

    This data is stored in the logfiles of our system. Storing of such data together with personal information of a specific user will not be performed so that there is no identification of individual app users.
  • Legal basis for the processing of personal information

    Section 6 Subsection 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest). Our legitimate interest is to achieve the following purpose.
  • Purpose of data processing

    We perform logging to maintain the compatibility and stability of this app for as many users as possible and to prevent any misuse and to carry out troubleshooting. To do so, it is necessary to log the technical data of the end device accessing our website to be able to react as early as possible to display errors, attacks on our IT systems and/or errors in the functionality of versiondog. In addition, we use such data to optimize versiondog and to generally ensure the security of our IT systems.
  • Duration of storage

    We delete the aforementioned technical data as soon as such is no longer required to ensure the compatibility of this app for all users, however, at the latest three months after the use of versiondog.

    In versiondog, you have the option of using a separate login area. Should you have forgotten your password or your user name for this area, you have the option to have such information sent to you again after entering your contact data (email address). We only collect, store and process usage data produced in line with the use of the login area to prevent any misuse and for trouble-shooting purposes or to maintain functionality of our website. Such data is not used for any other purposes nor is it forwarded to any third parties.

    We do not have access to the passwords you use. We only store them with encryption. On your end device, passwords are also only stored with encryption.
  • Duration of storage

    Collected data is only stored for as long as you have a user account with us. Data that is collect-ed in line with the feature 'Forgot user name or password' are only used to resend forgotton ac-cess data.

    In versiondog, you have the option to use a separate QR scanner. We only collect, store and pro-cess usage data produced in line with the use of the QR scanner to carry out the function of the QR scanner or to maintain functionality of the QR scanner. Such data is not used for any other purposes nor is it forwarded to any third parties.
  • Duration of storage

    Collected data is only stored for as long as it is necessary for the function of the QR scanner.

    The option for objection and removal is based on the general regulations explained in the follow-ing data privacy statement regarding the right of objection and entitlement for deletion.
  • Social sharing features

  • Scope of data processing

    In versiondog, we integrated sharing features of various social networks. If you use the sharing feature for a social network, your end device automatically establishes a connection to the serv-ers of said social network and may transmit personal information in that way. This also applies if you do not have a profile with the social network and or you are not logged in with said social network at that moment.

    If you are logged in with the social network, it can directly allocate the use of versiondog to your profile. Naturally, shared content is published on your profile and displayed to your contacts you have given access to for such.
  • Legal basis for the processing of personal information

    Section 6 Subsection 1 lit. a GDPR (if you are registered with the social network) and Section 6 Subsection 1 lit. f GDPR (if you are not registered with the social network). If processing is done on the basis of Section 6 Subsection 1 Sentence 1 lit. f GDPR, it is our legitimate interest to fa-cilitate your interaction with our content.
  • Purpose of data processing

    The primary purpose of data collection and processing is to give you the possibility of social interaction and to make our app interactive. Please refer to the data privacy notice of the social networks you use to read about the scope of data collection and addtitional processing and use of data produced by you via the social network as well as your respective rights and settings options to protect your privacy.
  • Duration of storage

    The social network you have used will store data relevant for the provision of the web service for as long as it is necessary to display the shared content. Typically, you can initiate the deletion of shared content directly in the social network. If data is subject to statutory retention requirements, deletion is performed after expiration of such retention requirements.
  • Option for objection and removal

    The option for objection and removal is based on the general regulations explained in the following data privacy statement regarding the right of objection and entitlement for deletion. Deletion of shared content from the social network used by you is solely your responsibility. We have no influence on the deletion of personal information that you forward to third parties on your own responsibility via the interfaces provided by us.


5. Access to features of your end device

In order for you to be able to use all features of the versiondog app, the app requires access to a camera (QR scanner) as well as to a storage medium of your used end device.

Access is only required for using the app's features. There is no transmission of image data to our IT systems or to third parties. Only the content of the produced QR codes is transmitted to our servers and deleted immediately after execution of the function. Other data transmission is limited to the scenarios described in this data privacy statement.

6. No integration of external web services. No processing of data outside of the EU. No forwarding of data to third parties. Option to enter into an order processing agreement:

In versiondog, we do not use any active content of external providers, so-called web services. All information and personal information that you transmit to us is solely stored on servers allocated to us within Germany. We secure and protect information and data collected and processed via the versiondog app by means of technical and organizational measures (TOM) against loss, destruction, unauthorized access, unauthorized change. There is no forwarding of data to third parties.

7. Information about the use of cookies

  • Scope of data processing

    On various pages, we use cookies to facilitate the use of certain features of versiondog. These so-called cookies are small text files your browser can store on your computer. These text files contain a characteristic string of characters to enable a clear identification of the app. The process of storing a cookie file is also called 'place a cookie.
  • Legal basis for the processing of personal information

    Section 6 Subsection 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest). Our legitimate interest is to maintain the full functionality of versiondog, to increase usability as well as to enable a more individual way of addressing our customers. Identification of individual visitors to our website is only possible for us by means of the cookie technology if the visitor has given us the respective personal information beforehand via separate consent.
  • Purpose of data processing

    The cookies are placed by versiondog to maintain the full functionality of versiondog and to improve its usability. In addition, the cookie technology helps us to recognize individual visitors via pseudonyms, e.g. an individual and random ID, so that we are able to offer services that are more individual.
  • Duration of storage

    Storage of our cookies is done in your browser until deletion, or, if it is a session cookie, after expiration of the session.
  • Option for objection and removal

    You may configure your browser in such a way that you generally prevent the placing of cookies, that you are only informed in the event that you have to decide about the acceptance of cookies on a case-by-case basis, or that you generally accept the placing of cookies. Cookies may be used for different purposes, e.g. to identify whether your computer has already had a connection to our web offer (permanent cookies) or to store offers that were last viewed (session cookies). We use cookies to offer you more user convenience. To use our convenience functions, we rec-ommend allowing the acceptance of cookies for our web offer. In principle, the options for objec-tion and removal are based on the general regulations explained in the following data privacy statement regarding the right of objection and entitlement for deletion.


8. Data security and data protection, communication via email

Your personal information is protected during collection, storing and processing via technial and organization measures in a way that it is not accessible for third parties. During unencrypted communication via email, we cannot guarantee complete data security during transmission of in-formation to our IT systems; we therefore recommend the use of encrypted communication or the sending by mail for information where confidentiality has a high priority.

9. Revocation of consent - data disclosure and request for modification - deletion and blocking of information

You have the right to receive free disclosure regarding your stored information as well as, if ap-plicable, a right to the modification, blocking or deletion of such information. Your information is deleted if this is not opposed by statutory regulations. You may revoke at any time consent that you have given to us to use your personal information. 10. Right of data portability

It is your right that we provide to you information pertaining to you that you have transmitted to us in a structured, standard and machine-readable format. In addition, you may request that we immediately transmit such information to a third party upon your initial instruction if pro-cessing is based on consent pursuant to Section 6 Subsection 1 lit. a GDPR or Section 9 Sub-section 2 lit. a GDPR or on a contract pursuant to Section 6 Subsection 1 lit. b GDPR and if such processing is carried out by us in line with automated data processing.

When exercising this right of data portability, you also have the right to effect personal infor-mation pertaining to you is directly transmitted from one controller to another controller to the ex-tent that this is technically possible. Freedoms and rights of other persons must not be impaired by such.

The right to data portability does not apply to the processing of personal information required to carry out a task that is in the interest of the public or that is done in the exercise of official au-thority assigned to the controller.

11. Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority pursuant to Section 77 Subsection 1 GDPR

Should you have the suspicion that we process your personal information in an illegal fashion, you have at any time the right to judicial clarification of the situation. Independent of such, you have the option to contact a supervisory authority. You have the right to lodge a complaint in the EU Member State of your residence, place of work and/or in the location of the alleged violation, i.e. you may choose the supervisory authority you would like to contact in the above-cited loca-tions. The supervisory authority where the complaint was lodged and submitted will then inform you regarding the status and the results of your submission including the option of judicial reme-dy pursuant to Section 78 GDPR.
